Futuristic neighborhood system
Speculative project
This project is a future neighborhood system designed for a time when being outdoors may become uncomfortable or unsafe because of climate change, extreme heat, poor air quality, storms, or high humidity.
The project focuses on everyday life: how people move, access services, meet others, and feel comfortable in their daily routines.
Instead of relying on traditional open streets, the neighborhood introduces protected pedestrian circulation, where movement happens through climate-controlled walkways and connected interior spaces. Cars and heavy logistics are separated from pedestrian areas to reduce congestion and improve safety.
The system is multi-layered. Infrastructure and service functions are placed below, daily circulation and public spaces in the middle, and housing above. All layers are visually connected to avoid isolation.
Nature is integrated throughout the system. Green spaces and interior gardens improve air quality and provide natural light. These elements are not decorative, they are functional parts of the environment.
The goal is to create a neighborhood that can adapt to unstable climate conditions while preserving sunlight, social life, informal gathering, and human-scale experience. It is not a sealed survival dome. It is a breathable, connected urban system designed to support daily life under changing environmental conditions.
